A fine example of this robust but lively cruising yacht.
Her early years were spent on Lake Windermere, followed by coastal cruising in the Clyde and off the West Coast of Scotland.
She has had 16 years under her current owner.
Merlins are famous for how much headroom and living space the designer, Ed Dubois, achieved - 6ft headroom, good galley and toilet spaces:
features equivalent to larger Westerlys and other marques.
As a Westerly the boat is strongly built, and well balanced under a simple but effective sail plan (easily handled solo), has a deep cockpit, and yet has the assurance of a powerful 20HP Bukh engine as back up or for ?motor sailing?.
A great family cruising yacht for coastal, island, and inland waters.

Accommodation:
3 cabins, forepeak (2 people in triangular berth, each 6ft length):
main saloon (3 people in two berths either side of main walkway / table):
quarterberth (2 people in 6ft captain's double berth).
So 7 berths.
Roomy and light toilet with sink, manual water pump, Jabasco toilet, cupboard for toiletries etc, mirror.
Main saloon has attractive panelled ceiling and long windows.
A brass oil lamp, varnished wood, and curtains add character to a warm and light saloon.
Good sized folding table.
Plenty of storage space below and above seats.
Generous chart / navigation table.
Wet locker.
Headlining is sagging in parts (a common Westerly issue after time).
The current owner has dealt with these areas by installing plywood sheeting, painting, or re-gluing the headlining.
The sale price reflects this aspect of ?wear and tear.
The boat can be enjoyed immediately as is.
Galley:
Butane gas gimballed Flavell cooker with 2 burners, grill, and oven.
External gas locker in cockpit ? 2x cylinders included.
Inbuilt cool box.
Spacious galley with sink served by electric water pump.
Good work surfaces, and lit cupboard.
Galley fitted with wall-hung fire extinguisher and fire blanket.

Sails:
Kemp Mainsail and Genoa both carefully maintained and in good working condition.
Halyards fed to cockpit.
Furling foresail.
Recent new sail bag on boom for mainsail, with lazy jack lines.
Spinnaker pole included.

New NASA log transducer and display 2010.

Also original Seafarer depth transducer through hull, with display at navigation table.

Additional Info:
Windjammer is on an excellent pontoon position in Oban Marina.
This ideal base for West of Scotland sailing is available to the new owner, if required.
The below-waterline hull was professionally sand-blasted and 5-coat epoxy treated in 1995.
This was a precautionary measure after 10 years as there was no sign of osmosis, and none since.
The boat has been over-wintered on land for 6 months every year since 1994 excepting 2010, with annual pressure wash, antifouling, and servicing of sea-cocks, engine, and rigging.
It has just been antifouled, and serviced (including new anode) and is fully ready for the 2011 season.
